Day 3 - The Talking Penis

So, Monday was my third day at Troma. When, I initially bummed around for a while before being given a script to review. I believe it was entitled "Inappropriate Behavior" or something to that effect. The story revolved around a man who we come to learn has not only a talking penis, but also a talking anus. See, the penis is always horny and brash, while the anus is polite and wants the man to eat "soft foods". Hilarious? No, not really. The story sucked and relied on flashbacks to flesh itself out....so, lame. Also, there was a vagina beam or something....I dunno.

Later, I was instructed to make space in the basement for new shelves. In doing so, I unearthed a plentiful bounty of props, including some zombie hands, a baby killer chicken, and an array of weapons. Good times!

I also learned how to type up addresses on a typewriter-like machine for sending out dvds. It's a bit scary when you can't backspace.

Day one and two

Well, my first day working at Troma was back in January, right before I hurt my foot. I arrived at a small building in Long Island City in Queens where I met up with the other interns and the intern coordinator. Because they had just moved into the building, this day would be dedicated to mostly moving things around and cleaning. There were many boxes to be set in different rooms, some marked with interesting titles such as "Killer Condom Props" and "Poltryguist Prints". Interesting stuff. Except for that though, I mostly just mopped and wiped things down (somehow managing to cut myself on a urinal while cleaning it....yuck) The day was very eventful but it was exciting to help move in the new era of Troma.

Day 2 (Friday, Feb. 22)
This day was a lot more fun. I arrived a bit early, and was instructed to shovel the driveway, as it was snowing quite hard that day. After I finished, I went inside. It was cool to see how much things had changed since the last time I had been there. There were cool props lying around and the desks had been set up with lots of weird memorabilia lying around. My first duty was to screen a film called "Dead Country" to decide if we could produce it. It was very good at all, with extremely bad acting and a lame story. However the second one I watched, titled "Lost in Transit" was more fun, as it was based on some sketches from the show "Crank Yankers" and Howard Stern.

After this, I was commissioned to write a short zombie story that we could put on the website. I went through a few drafts, but we didn't actually end up shooting it. We did get around to hanging up a blue screen in the basement to use later for our "Poltryguist Karaoke" which will be very interesting I'm sure.

All and all, it's shaping up to be a very fun job.
